As much as I would love, I am afraid my schedule doesn't leave much room for more volunteer activities at the moment, but I could stop by at the meeting for brainstorming. Unfortunately the times you suggested don't suit me, but let me know of other opportunities in future!

The meeting times don't suit me but if you need occasional help selling tickets or doing other practical stuff for events, you can sign me up. I don't have much time (3-year-old at home) but I could definitely help a few times a year at reasonable hours .

Hi Henni, please allow Casino style salsa as well (in addition to the LA style) in the potential salsa events, in minimum in equal proportion, because people in Finland dance mostly Casino style salsa.

One can also see that also you have recently asked for broad minded attitude here (avarakatseisuutta) for the allowed salsa styles in events, so this would fit perfectly in that respect too. The MBar time does not fit for me but have a nice meeting today there!

But isn't the whole idea of volunteering to keep the CBS styles alive, increase the number of dancers and develop the CBS-salsa scene. In my opinion, there is a lot going on Casino side already and the main focus should be on CBS in this group.

Unfortunately I cannot make it to this evening's meeting either but I am hoping I can share my thoughts and ideas at the next meeting.

Indeed. The point of Alppila Salsa Social, for example, was to get at least one place to dance crossbody salsa to suitable music since Helsinki was so cuban dominated and also to make more people aware of crossbody salsa.

Things have changed after that, with the opening of Club Classic Salsa, but the point hasn't. Crossbody salsa dancers want crossbody salsa events, regardless of what the majority dances. So I really don't understand flenn's request.

Now I could speculate, from the post by Jalaton a month ago (http://www.salsa.fi/keskustelut-3316.html), that things have changed for worse for casino dancers. Maybe flenn feels this too. I don't know how things are, since I don't participate in (mainly) casino events, except for the random times at BB's parties (who should offer something for all their students--I'm a student) and more consistent participation in Sabor's Oopperasalsat (who should offer something for all their members--I'm a member). But it sounds like casino dancers should also be more active to support their style of dancing, like we are trying to do here to support crossbody salsa.

I fully understand that when CBS dancers are still a minority but a currently a fast growing one, special attention is needed to keep it growing.

However, as I understood flenn's point: the broad minded thinking should come from both sides (actually there should not be any sides, we are salsa dancers I really really like that kind of thinking in our small sub culture against main stream. How to accomplish that? How to keep us as one happy salsa dancing family?

Well, I have the exact same potential to do tihs as each on of you have so go for your dream and make Helsinki the way you'd want it to be. Like i.e. Aki and many others strongly do.

I would like, along Beyond's words, to encourage you to activity. I have personally decided to make my culture happen instead of sitting at the computer complaining about not having it.

Please make the kinds of events happen you want to have!

You can always by the way ask advice from me or better even our cbs team if you think you need it.

But let's allow people to do whatever they please (as long as it's legal) At this point in time this is what I please to do in our brand new cbs team. I will dance to my tune with the like minded, don't force anyone and it'll have to be enough.
